Chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo

The chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo is a church building in Torre Annunziata that blends Romanesque and Gothic elements in an eclectic style. The structure features a detailed facade with hanging arches and decorative rose windows, while the interior contains three naves with Corinthian capitals ending in cylindrical apses.

Construction began in 1905 under architect Erminio Dones and was completed in 1914. The building was notable for using reinforced concrete, an innovative material for Campania during that period.

The church is dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel and serves as a spiritual center for the local community in Torre Annunziata. Its interior layout with multiple naves and decorated walls reflects the devotional practices that shaped this space over generations.

In 1932 the church was donated to the Sanctuary of Pompei, and later elevated to parish status in 1955 by Bishop Adolfo Binni. These two events marked significant shifts in the religious importance of the place for the community.
