アスタビル, Commercial high-rise in Tanashi, Japan
Asta Building is a high-rise with 17 floors above ground and two basement levels, combining retail and residential spaces in Nishitokyo. The structure brings together different uses in one location and creates a mixed complex for daily activities.
The building emerged from an urban renewal project in 1995, replacing a traditional shopping district that existed until the late 1980s. This transformation marked the area's shift from older business structures to modern high-rise development.
The name Asta represents forward-thinking vision, created as an acronym for 'Advanced Step of Tanashi,' reflecting local aspirations for urban development.
The building connects directly to Tanashi Station via a pedestrian bridge, making access straightforward without detours. Inside are many shops, restaurants, and the well-known LIVIN department store, all easily accessible and easy to navigate.
The building attracts millions of visitors yearly and has become a central commercial hub in western Tokyo. Its appeal rests on the mix of shopping, dining, and living that makes it a gathering point for daily errands.
