Musashino Central Park, Metropolitan park in Musashino, Japan.
Musashino Central Park is a green space in Musashino, Japan, with cherry, oak, zelkova, and flowering dogwood trees across its grounds. It also has four artificial grass tennis courts, children's playgrounds, a gateball field, and barbecue areas.
The park opened on June 1, 1989, turning part of the Yahata-cho neighborhood into a public green space. It was one of the projects that brought new outdoor recreational areas to the residents of Musashino.
A circular stone bench called Tsuki-machidai sits in the park as a representation of the moon. Not far from it, the hill known as Kaze-o-miru-oka invites visitors to feel the wind from a raised spot.
Tennis courts and barbecue areas may require advance reservations, especially during busy periods, so planning ahead is a good idea. The park is easy to reach and spacious enough to combine different activities in a single visit.
The park sits close to a residential area, which means it draws families with young children on weekdays as well as weekends. This makes it a good spot to observe everyday life in Musashino away from the more touristic parts of Tokyo.
