Kasamatsu Stadium, Multi-purpose stadium in Naka, Japan
Kasamatsu Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in the Naka district of Japan, fitted with a running track and a football pitch. It holds around 22,000 spectators and is used for a range of sporting competitions throughout the year.
The stadium opened in 1976 and quickly became one of the main sporting venues in Ibaraki Prefecture. A major renovation in 2001 brought the facility up to date and expanded what it could offer.
The stadium was home to Mito HollyHock football club for many years, giving it a central role in local sporting life. Many residents in the area still associate the ground with those years of local football.
The stadium sits inside the Kasamatsu Sports Park complex, so it is easy to walk between the different areas. When no official events are on, parts of the grounds are often open to the public.
The sports park surrounding the stadium includes several other training and leisure facilities that many visitors do not expect to find. It is easy to spend a long visit on the grounds without covering the same path twice.
