Misedani Dam

Misedani Dam, Gravity dam in Odai, Japan

Misedani Dam is a gravity dam in Mie Prefecture that holds back the Miyagawa River to form a reservoir. The structure supports hydroelectric power generation and supplies water for industrial use in the surrounding area.

This structure was completed in 1963 during Japan's post-war reconstruction phase. It represents the country's effort to modernize its infrastructure through engineering projects that could support growing economic needs.

The name reflects its location near the Misedani settlement, and the reservoir's waters are used by local communities and industries in the surrounding region.

The area is best visited during warmer months when pathways are dry and easily accessible. Sturdy footwear is recommended, as the ground around the dam can be uneven.

The reservoir stores water for multiple purposes and creates a small yet important landscape feature in the region. The lake becomes a place where natural surroundings meet human engineering as mountains frame the water's edge.
