円光寺

Enköji is a Buddhist temple in Atsugi featuring a grand gate tower decorated with statues of Kannon that leads to a main hall. The grounds contain several buildings and stone monuments that make up the temple complex.

The temple was founded by Zen master Tokusen from Kenchoji Temple and later endured periods of abandonment and fires. These difficult times resulted in the loss of many historical records.

The temple follows Rinzai Zen Buddhist practices, and visitors can explore a collection of old stone monuments scattered across the grounds. These sculptures reflect the spiritual heritage visitors experience while walking through the space.

The temple is located about 350 meters from Aikō-Ishida Station and provides free parking on the grounds. The site is easy to reach on foot from the station.

The grounds contain a stone pagoda memorial dedicated to Aikō Suetaka, a feudal lord from the medieval period. This monument shows the temple's connection to local nobility and regional history.
