円光寺, Buddhist temple in Atsugi, Japan
The temple features a grand gate tower adorned with statues of Kannon, leading to a main hall where a principal Buddhist statue resides.
The temple, established by Zen master Tokusen from Kenchoji Temple, underwent periods of abandonment and fires that resulted in the loss of historical records.
The temple maintains Rinzai Zen Buddhist traditions and houses a collection of ancient stone monuments, including a treasured Hokyoin pagoda from 1305.
Located 346 meters from Aikō-Ishida Station, the temple grounds provide parking facilities and can be reached within a 5-minute walk from the station.
The temple grounds contain a memorial stone pagoda dedicated to Aikō Suetaka, a local feudal lord from the medieval period of Japan.
