Atsugi axt, Office tower in Atsugi, Japan
Atsugi AXT is an office tower standing 117 meters tall with 26 floors above ground and a basement level, built with reinforced concrete construction. The building contains modern office spaces designed to accommodate various companies and organizations within the Atsugi business district.
Construction took place from 1992 to 1995 as part of Japan's Telecom Town initiative, supported by over 100 public and private organizations that invested in the project. This development marked an important phase in establishing Atsugi as a major business center.
The tower functions as a business center where office workers and visitors encounter views of Mount Fuji and the Tanzawa Mountains from their workspaces, making these natural landmarks part of the daily scene.
The building is equipped with twelve elevators in total, with separate systems for lower and upper floors plus two emergency units for safety. This arrangement helps move people efficiently throughout the tower.
The structure incorporates the Hidam system, a specialized damping mechanism that protects against seismic activity common in the region. This engineering feature demonstrates how the building was designed to withstand Japan's frequent earthquakes.
