Hirono Golf Club, Private golf course in Shijimichō Hirono, Japan
Hirono Golf Club is a private golf course in Shijimichō Hirono, Japan, that extends over 6,554 meters (7,169 yards) with 18 holes. The property uses natural ravines and ponds that spread between the playing holes.
Charles Alison designed the course, which opened on June 19, 1932. The property established itself as one of the first Western-style golf facilities in Japan.
Members use the course for private tournaments and events, maintaining a long tradition within Japanese golf. The layout combines Western playing style with the attention to detail typical of Japanese gardens.
The facility offers rental equipment, practice areas, and a driving range for members. The clubhouse provides restaurants and locker rooms for guests.
The fairways use Zoysia grass that grows quickly and provides a dense surface, while the greens are maintained with Bent grass. This combination changes playing conditions depending on the season and requires adapted shot techniques.
