Ikegami-Sone Site, Archaeological site in Izumi, Japan.
The settlement spans 600,000 square meters, featuring a moat system that encircles residential structures from the Yayoi period.
Archaeological excavations in 1995 uncovered a massive building dated to 52 BCE through tree ring analysis of its cypress pillars.
The site contains evidence of advanced metalworking facilities where inhabitants produced bronze and iron tools during the Yayoi period.
Visitors can explore the reconstructed buildings and ancient well at the historic park, open from 10:00 to 17:00 except on Mondays.
The excavated well, carved from a single camphor tree trunk, measures 2.3 meters in diameter and stands as Japan's largest hollowed-tree well.
