The Gediminas Monument is a bronze equestrian statue of the Grand Duke set in Cathedral Square in Vilnius, Lithuania. He holds a sword in his left hand and raises his right arm upward; the work was created by sculptor Vytautas Kašuba.
Grand Duke Gediminas ruled in the early 14th century and strengthened the Lithuanian state through diplomacy and alliances. He made Vilnius the capital, laying the groundwork for the city's role in the centuries that followed.
