Hohllay

The Hohllay Cave features massive stone pillars supporting its vaulted ceiling, with distinct tool marks visible throughout its sandstone walls.

Dating back to Roman times, the cave served as a millstone quarry where workers extracted circular stones from the sandstone formations until the 19th century.

The cave interior displays numerous scalloped patterns on its walls, offering evidence of traditional mining techniques used by Luxembourg's stone workers through generations.

Three hiking trails lead to the cave: a 6.6 kilometer easy path, a 16.8 kilometer moderate route through Wolf Gorge, and a 19.5 kilometer challenging trek.

The cave's natural pillars create an underground space resembling a cathedral, making it suitable for musical performances in appropriate weather conditions.
