Lustūzis Cliff

The sandstone formation extends 250 meters along the Līgatne River bank, reaching 50 meters into the forest edge at both southwestern and southeastern sides.

Throughout generations, local residents created a network of storage cellars within the cliff walls, establishing two distinct levels for preserving winter supplies.

The cliff formation received its alternative name 'Cave Rock' due to numerous carved storage spaces that reflect traditional Latvian food preservation methods.

Visitors can observe the geological features from a designated platform at the base, which helps prevent erosion of the fragile sandstone structure.

The natural monument spans 4.454 hectares and contains the only documented location in Latvia where storage cellars were constructed at two different elevations.
