周參見町立蝦和蟹之水族館, Marine aquarium in Susami, Japan
The Susami Crustacean Aquarium displays 150 species of crabs and shrimp in specialized tanks within a converted school gymnasium near the Pacific coast.
The aquarium started in 1997 as a single marine life tank at Mitoji Station, before officially opening in its current location in April 1999.
The facility contributes to marine education by showcasing the diverse crustacean species found in the Kii Peninsula waters of Japan.
Located 8 minutes from JR Esumi Station, the aquarium operates daily from 9:00 to 17:00 with admission fees of 800 yen for adults and 500 yen for students.
The institution maintains a mobile aquarium service, transporting 100 marine creatures in a specialized truck to various locations across Japan upon request.
