Bilderdam

Bilderdam is a hamlet in South Holland spanning two municipalities and surrounded by lakes and polder landscapes. The area mixes agricultural land with newer residential zones, creating a blend of rural and contemporary development.

The settlement grew during development of the Wassenaarsche Polder region, a land reclamation area in the broader region. In 2012, parts of the territory were administratively transferred from North Holland to South Holland.

The community maintains deep ties to farming and rural life, which you can sense in daily routines and land use. Modern housing projects now sit alongside older structures, reflecting how the place balances tradition with contemporary living.

Located northeast of Alphen aan den Rijn, the area is well-connected to Amsterdam and Schiphol Airport via the N207 highway. Larger towns nearby are easy to reach, making it convenient for those exploring the wider region.

The hamlet spans across boundaries of two different municipalities, creating an unusual administrative setup. Though residents share postal services, they legally belong to separate local governments.
