Bagacay Point Lighthouse

Bagacay Point Lighthouse is an octagonal masonry structure rising approximately 22 meters above ground, topped with a balcony and lantern room. The tower occupies a spacious property and commands views over the Mactan Channel and the surrounding coastal area.

The first beacon at this location was established by the Spanish government in 1857, while the current tower was completed in 1874 following construction phases. This progression shows how maritime infrastructure developed in the region during the late 19th century.

The lighthouse is a familiar landmark for the local community and draws visitors who appreciate views of the northern Cebu coast. People come to photograph the seascape and experience the perspective over the water from this vantage point.

The site is best visited during daylight hours to see the structures and views clearly. Sturdy footwear is recommended since the grounds can be uneven and access to the tower base is straightforward.

The tower uses a third-order Fresnel lens to project white flashes that appear about every five seconds and are visible from up to 20 nautical miles away. This system allows ships to identify the location even from considerable distances.
