Otis Bridge, Girder bridge in Paco, Philippines
Otis Bridge is a six-lane girder bridge that crosses a tributary of the Estero de Concordia in Manila. The structure extends 80 meters long and 12 meters wide, providing a direct link across the waterway.
The original structure was completed in 1968 and named after American Governor-General Elwell Stephen Otis. In 2018, the aging bridge was completely rebuilt to address structural deterioration.
The bridge forms part of Manila's transportation network, connecting the commercial areas around the Port of Manila with the central business districts.
The bridge accommodates heavy vehicle traffic including trucks weighing up to 20 tons throughout the day. Plan visits during off-peak hours if you prefer less congestion while crossing.
The bridge's complete reconstruction in 2018 was finished three months ahead of the original schedule. This remarkable pace showcased modern engineering efficiency in restoring critical urban infrastructure.
