Kościół Nawrócenia św. Pawła Apostoła w Sandomierzu

The Church of the Conversion of Saint Paul the Apostle is a Gothic house of worship with prominent Baroque elements. A robust bell tower from the 18th century defines its exterior, while the interior contains altars, paintings, and decorative features from the early Baroque period.

Construction took place between 1426 and 1434, replacing an earlier wooden church dating to 1226. That original structure was established by Bishop Iwo Odrowąż of Krakow, expanding the religious foundation of the settlement.

The church serves as a gathering place where locals come together for worship and community life. It stands as part of Sandomierz's protected architectural heritage, contributing to the character of the old town.

The building sits on Staromiejska Street 11 in the old town district. Visitors can arrange access by contacting the parish office, and Sunday services occur throughout the day.

The cemetery adjacent to the church holds the grave of Tekla Nekanda-Trepka, aunt of the celebrated Polish author Stefan Żeromski. This family connection to a prominent literary figure makes the site noteworthy for visitors interested in Polish cultural history.
