Nature reserves Zwiezło

Nature reserves Zwiezło comprises two mountain lakes located in the Bieszczady range at approximately 700 meters elevation, surrounded by forest vegetation. These water bodies differ in depth and appearance while together they form a protected habitat for alpine plant and animal species.

The two lakes formed from landslides in 1907 that altered the geological structure of Chryszczata mountain. This natural event left behind two distinct water basins that now form the core of this protected area.

The reserve forms part of the Main Beskid Trail, connecting multiple settlements through a network of marked hiking paths in the Bieszczady region.

Access to the area is strictly regulated to preserve the fragile alpine environment. Visitors should stay on marked paths and move carefully during their visit to avoid disturbing wildlife.

The water in both lakes has high calcium content that contributes to mineral formation in this high alpine system. This geochemical quality creates the characteristic turquoise color that visibly sets the area apart from its surroundings.
