Zakłady Naprawcze Taboru Kolejowego Pruszków

Zakłady Naprawcze Taboru Kolejowego Pruszków is a large industrial complex where railway wagons were repaired and maintained. The site contained numerous workshop buildings and rail tracks arranged across a significant area that served as the town's economic foundation.

The workshops were founded in 1897 by the Warsaw-Vienna Railway Company and initially focused on freight wagon repair. During World War II, the Nazi military temporarily used the site as a transit camp for Warsaw civilians.

The repair facility was the leading employer in town for decades and shaped local life as a center of railway work. Workers formed a large community that defined the character of Pruszków across generations.

The site is not fully open to visitors today, but parts of it house a museum focused on wartime history. It is worth checking ahead which areas can be visited, as portions of the complex remain in active use by businesses.

Between 1944 and 1945, part of the repair facility became Dulag 121, a transit camp where thousands of Warsaw civilians were processed and held after the uprising. A museum there now documents this stark chapter in the site's history.
