Maria Śnieżna sanctuary

Maria Śnieżna sanctuary stands at 845 meters elevation on Mount Igliczna and features late Baroque architectural elements characteristic of the period. The building combines chapel functions with pilgrimage purposes and sits among forested slopes.

Development of the sanctuary began in 1781 with a wooden shrine housing a copy of the miraculous figure from Austrian Mariazell. The construction and expansion continued over several decades through the early twentieth century.

The sanctuary displays stained glass from Munich's Mayer studio and religious paintings depicting Christ and Mary throughout its interior. These artworks shape the spiritual character of the place and reflect its importance for pilgrims visiting from surrounding regions.

The sanctuary is accessible via multiple marked hiking trails in red, green, and yellow that start from Międzygórze village center. Good hiking boots and moderate fitness are necessary due to the elevation and terrain conditions.

The sanctuary houses a brick organ gallery integrated within a tower structure, added in 1784. This instrument represents a rare example of how music and religious architecture were combined during this period.
