Wilczka Falls Nature Reserve, Nature reserve waterfall in Międzygórze, Poland.
Wilczka Falls Nature Reserve protects a river cascade located within the Śnieżnik Mountain Range, where water tumbles through narrow gorges. The surrounding forest contains old beech trees mixed with spruce, sycamore, and fir, creating a dense woodland environment.
Early tourist development began in the 1800s when Princess Marianna of Orange commissioned pathways and bridges to access the site. Since then, the area has been developed further as a nature reserve to provide visitors with safe routes through the landscape.
The name references the wild wolves that once roamed these ravines. Visitors can experience the forest landscape and the local relationship with water that shaped life in the mountains.
Freshly renovated trails and viewing platforms provide easy access, with parking available near the Dom Nad Wodospadem restaurant at the entrance. The paths can be wet and slippery, so sturdy walking shoes are recommended for safe navigation.
Winter transforms the waterfall into frozen sculptures as the plummeting water crystallizes on the rocks and canyon walls. This seasonal change makes the site look completely different from summer, creating natural ice formations that exist for only a few months each year.
