The former Dacia Insurance Building stands at 18-20 Strada Lipscani, featuring architectural elements that represent early 20th-century design in central Bucharest.
Between 1882 and 1889, this structure was built to house the Dacia-Romania Insurance Company, later becoming the headquarters of the Romanian General Bank until 1931.
The building reflects the architectural evolution of Bucharest during a period of substantial urban development, incorporating design elements from multiple European influences.
Located in the Lipscani area, the structure is currently undergoing restoration work to transform it into the Art Gallery of the Municipality of Bucharest.
The building survived the 1977 earthquake and underwent extensive restoration between 1979 and 1983, preserving its structural integrity for future generations.
