House of Flowers, Mausoleum and museum at Dedinje, Belgrade, Serbia
The House of Flowers is a mausoleum and museum in the Dedinje district of Belgrade located within the Museum of Yugoslavia complex. Inside, two parallel corridors run around a central garden space with white stones marking burial sites of former Yugoslav leaders.
The building was originally created in 1975 as a winter garden and office space but gained an entirely new purpose in 1980. When a major political leader of that era died, it was converted into a final resting place.
The House of Flowers displays personal items and gifts from the former Yugoslav era that visitors can explore inside. These objects give a sense of how people lived then and what connections the country maintained.
The site is located in the Dedinje neighborhood and is easily reached by public transportation that brings you close by. It is best explored on foot, allowing you to take your time moving through the interior spaces.
Between 1982 and 2012 the site received millions of visitors from different countries who came together here. This extraordinary visitor volume made it one of the most visited memorial sites across the region.
