Zhernovka Manor, Palladian manor house in Krasnogvardeysky District, Russia
Zhernovka Manor is a symmetrical Palladian mansion in Krasnogvardeysky District with a central building and two side wings topped by distinctive towers. The structure overlooks the Okhta River and displays classical proportions with stone facades.
The manor was built in 1780 under architect Giacomo Quarenghi's supervision, following the classical design principles of the period. Over the centuries, ownership changed hands multiple times until the Bezobrazov family took over and gave it its current name.
The name comes from the Bezobrazov family, who owned and shaped the estate for generations. Inside, ornately decorated rooms survive today, including a billiard room, dining hall, and bedrooms with marble-like wall finishes that reflect how the wealthy owners lived.
The manor is undergoing renovation to become a music school with concert halls and educational spaces. The work preserves the historical architecture while allowing visitors to see the restoration process in progress.
The manor's park territory blends into a public space, creating a rare mix of educational use and recreation for local residents. This connection between the heritage building and everyday community life makes the place special.
