Прага, Historic restaurant at Arbat Street, Moscow, Russia
Praga is a multi-story building with a colonnade on Arbat Street in Moscow, housing a restaurant and architectural monument. The interior shows marble surfaces, crystal elements, and a winter garden beneath the roof.
A tavern for coachmen opened here in 1872 and changed ownership in 1896 after a billiard game. From 1954 onward, the building served as a reception venue for diplomatic guests and state occasions.
The name refers to the capital of Bohemia and reflects the earlier connection to central European culinary traditions. Writers and musicians met here regularly, and the building became a social center for the artistic community of the city.
The restaurant sits directly on Arbat Street and is easily reached on foot or by public transport. Separate rooms are available for private occasions.
The in-house confectionery developed Bird's Milk cake during the 1970s, which later became well known across Moscow. The recipe spread quickly and shaped Soviet baking of that period.
