Memorial complex in honour of tank-men

This memorial garden in Oryol contains a T-34 tank on a pedestal, an eternal flame, and a burial ground for tank crew members. The site spans about 1.76 hectares with pathways and planted areas throughout the grounds.

The site was originally Ilyinka Square, a former execution ground, but was transformed into a memorial garden after Oryol's liberation in August 1943. The official dedication ceremony took place 20 years later in 1963.

The memorial draws veterans and school groups who gather here regularly throughout the year. Visitors sense the solemn purpose of the space when wreaths are laid and commemorative events take place.

The complex is open year-round and features pathways that allow visitors to explore the entire site comfortably. Special ceremonies and gatherings happen on commemorative holidays, so plan your visit accordingly if you wish to attend these events.

A top Soviet military commander personally lit the eternal flame during the 1963 dedication ceremony, giving the site special historical significance. This mark of honor highlights how important this place is to national remembrance.
