Park of North River Terminal, Historic park in Levoberezhny District, Moscow, Russia
The Park of North River Terminal is a large green space along the Khimki Reservoir that combines botanical gardens, sports facilities, and the river terminal building. The grounds feature multiple recreational areas with play spaces, walking routes, and seating throughout the landscaped terrain.
The site was established in 1937 during the construction of the Moscow Canal and designed by engineer Timofey Shafranski. From its beginning, the space served as a recreational area for passengers using the river terminal.
The fountains with swan sculptures and historical monuments throughout the grounds display Soviet-era design principles that shaped this space. Visitors notice these artistic details as they walk through the landscaped areas.
The grounds are easy to explore on foot with marked paths and plenty of seating distributed throughout. The various zones are accessible to visitors of different fitness levels and preferences.
A miniature canal system within the park features eight working lock models named after actual structures from the Moscow Canal. This scaled-down version once concluded with a small replica terminal building.
