Sindalah, Saudi-Arabian island in the red sea
Sindalah is a small island in the Red Sea that belongs to the Neom project in Saudi Arabia and sits roughly 5 kilometers off the coast. The islet spans less than a square kilometer, with beaches, a large marina, and modern buildings designed by an Italian studio.
The project was announced in late 2022 and is the first completed region within the larger Neom development plan. The island celebrated its official opening in October 2024 with a large event, though many facilities were still under construction.
The name Sindalah connects with the natural environment and the culture of the Red Sea, while the yacht club and waterfront promenades shape social life on the island. Visitors see yachts moored in the harbor and experience a place designed for comfort and quiet relaxation.
The island currently remains largely closed to the general public while final facilities are completed. Access is mainly through private yachts or organized tours, so visitors should check availability and access conditions in advance.
The marina can accommodate boats up to 168 meters (550 feet) in length, making it one of the few places in the Red Sea capable of receiving superyachts of this size. The yacht club interior was designed by an Italian fashion brand, giving the building an unusual style.

Everywhere, in deserts, along coasts, and in city centers, new building projects change how cities grow and work. Some build tall towers that change the view, others create whole neighborhoods from scratch. Each project shows different ways of thinking about design, technology, and how people live together. In Saudi Arabia, The Line offers a city without cars that runs through the desert, Trojena gives mountain skiing, and Sindalah builds a new island in the Red Sea. In Dubai, buildings like One Za’abeel, where two towers connect with a hanging bridge, or Dubai Creek Tower that switches the look along the water. In Paris, the Tour Triangle, a glass pyramid in the south, shows how the city considers height and space. These projects are of different sizes and purposes. There are large factories like Oxagon that work on the water, and places to live or work in Jeddah, Zhuhai, and elsewhere. Some are already being built, with the bases and structure going up, others are waiting for permission or funds. Each project aims to meet local needs, whether for more homes, attracting visitors, or trying new ways to build that care for the environment. Together, they show how architects and city planners think about the links between buildings, roads, and daily life around the world.
