Skedevid, Castle in Kinda Municipality, Sweden.
Skedevid is a three-story stone castle with mansard roofs and single-story wings decorated with balustrades. The building sits on grounds between two lakes and is framed by green spaces and trees.
The current main building was designed by Carl Fredrik Adelcrantz between 1769 and 1781. The land was previously owned by several Swedish noble families who shaped the property over centuries.
The name Skedevid comes from Old Norse and refers to the water landscape surrounding the property. The rooms reflect the lifestyle of noble families who lived here across generations.
The grounds sit between two lakes, which visitors should keep in mind when planning. A psychiatric center operates on the property, so visitors should respect access rules there.
A major battle of Dackefejden took place on an island that was later integrated into the castle park. This piece of military history merged with the peaceful landscape of the grounds.
