Minčol

Minčol is a mountain summit in the Čergov range in northeastern Slovakia, reaching 1157 meters above sea level. As the highest point of this mountain massif, it offers views across the surrounding landscape and neighboring ranges.

The mountain territory contains remnants of the medieval Kamenický Castle, which served as a defensive fortress controlling important trade routes through the region. This stronghold shaped the strategic importance of the area during the Middle Ages.

The summit serves as a meeting point for the annual gathering called Meeting of Four Districts, bringing together residents from neighboring regions of Stará Ľubovňa, Bardejov, Sabinov, and Prešov. This event creates a connection between communities across the surrounding areas through a shared experience on the mountain.

Hikers can reach the summit via a nine-kilometer trail that takes about three hours and includes rest stops with facilities along the way. A mountain shelter provides weather protection and serves as an orientation point during the ascent.

The mountain features the distinctive Sokolia rock formation, also known as Eagle's Rock, which is visible from various angles and provides views across multiple surrounding valleys. This rock feature is a notable landmark of the mountain landscape and a popular photography spot for visitors.
