Cergovsky Mincol, National nature reserve in Bardejov District, Slovakia.
This national nature reserve protects the Cergov mountain range, a forested highland area with its highest peak at 1,157 meters above sea level. The terrain features mixed woodlands and open slopes spread across three administrative districts in the region.
The reserve was established in 1986 to protect the natural resources of the mountain region and bring it under official management. Its creation came from growing efforts to safeguard these important forest landscapes.
The Meeting of Four Districts event brings together hikers from Stará Ľubovňa, Bardejov, Sabinov, and Prešov at the summit of Mincol.
Several hiking trails cross the area with varying lengths depending on your chosen route and starting point. Proper footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are essential, as mountain conditions can change quickly.
The forests contain a mix of beech, maple, oak, and birch trees that create a dense woodland ecosystem. This variety of tree species supports diverse animal and plant life throughout the reserve.
