Yürüyen Köşk, Historical mansion in Yalova, Turkey.
Yürüyen Köşk is a two-story wooden mansion with ornate facades and traditional tile roofing located near Yalova's waterfront. It contains eleven rooms, three lounges, and is surrounded by gardens open to visitors.
The mansion was built in 1929 and underwent an extraordinary change in 1930 when Mustafa Kemal Atatürk ordered its relocation to preserve a large plane tree. This event made the building an important record of Turkey's early republican period.
The mansion displays original furnishings from Dolmabahce Palace and photographs from Turkey's early republican founding period. The rooms tell the story of how wealthy families lived during that time.
Visitors can explore all rooms, lounges, and gardens while learning about traditional Turkish architecture and design. The location near the waterfront is easily accessible and works well for a half-day visit.
The building was placed on rail tracks to move it 5 meters forward, a rare technical achievement in Turkey at that time. This method allowed engineers to relocate the entire structure without causing damage.
