Yalova, Coastal city center in Yalova Province, Turkey.
Yalova is a coastal city on the eastern shore of the Sea of Marmara, stretching across green plateaus. The terrain sits at about 30 meters elevation and features natural thermal springs alongside agricultural land.
The settlement had ancient roots known as Pylai and later became an Ottoman stronghold. During the 20th century it experienced Greek occupation in 1920 and was reclaimed by Turkish forces in July 1921.
The city maintains multiple thermal spa facilities dating from Byzantine times, later enhanced during Sultan Abdülhamid II reign and continuing through modern times.
Regular ferry services link the city to Istanbul, offering convenient arrival across the Marmara Sea. The crossing takes roughly 45 to 75 minutes depending on the Istanbul terminal destination.
The Moving Mansion Museum houses a building that engineers relocated 5 meters east in 1929. This unusual action preserved a large tree that was otherwise affecting the structure.
