Yalova Atatürk Mansion, Presidential mansion in Termal, Turkey.
Yalova Atatürk Mansion is a two-story wooden building in Termal with eleven rooms including three reception halls, bedrooms, bathrooms, and study areas on different floors. The rooms are furnished with pieces from leading institutions of the early republic.
The mansion was built in 1929 at the request of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and served as a presidential residence until 1981. It was then converted into a museum to preserve early republican history.
Furnishings came from Dolmabahce Palace, while carpets were produced at Hereke Carpet Factory and porcelain items at Yildiz Porcelain Factory. These objects reflect the craftsmanship and design standards valued during the early republic.
The wooden structure lacked a kitchen and heating system, so meals were prepared in external kitchens and brought inside. Visitors should keep in mind that the building's design differed considerably from modern residential standards.
In 1930, instead of cutting tree branches touching the building, the entire mansion was moved 4.8 meters east using tram rails placed under its foundation. This unusual solution shows the engineering capabilities available at that time.
