Rami Library is a public library in Eyüpsultan housed in a renovated military barracks from 1827. The facility encompasses multiple reading spaces, garden areas, and sections designed for different age groups and reading interests.
The building opened in 1827 as Rami Barracks for the Ottoman military and later served as a detention facility. By the 1970s it had become a food market before eventually being converted into a library.
The library holds a significant collection of works about Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and features specialized departments, including a manuscript restoration workshop. Visitors can observe how staff carefully preserve historical texts and documents in this dedicated space.
The facility can accommodate thousands of visitors at once and operates twenty-four hours daily, allowing you to visit on your own schedule. It offers complimentary refreshments, study materials for exam preparation, and separate areas suited to different age groups.
It became Turkey's first holder of a Biosphere Sustainable Museum Certificate, recognizing its use of natural materials and ecological design throughout the building. This commitment to sustainability shapes how the space operates and feels to visitors.
