Glacial Lakes State Park, Lakeside state park in Pope County, Minnesota, US.
Glacial Lakes State Park is a 980-acre park in central Minnesota with multiple spring-fed lakes set among rolling hills. Native prairie and oak forest cover the landscape, creating the terrain that shaped this region long ago.
The protected area was established in 1963 to preserve the native prairie landscape that once covered much of the region. This action came as these ecosystems were disappearing due to farming and development across Minnesota.
The park organizes interpretive programs throughout the year to educate visitors about local ecology, geology, and natural heritage of central Minnesota.
The park has two camping areas with a combined 37 sites, with one section near the lake and another on an elevated plateau. Check beforehand which facilities are open during your visit, as some areas may be seasonal.
Signalness Lake within the park has an unusual rectangular shape and sits in a valley surrounded by high hills. Fish populations need regular restocking because winter conditions in this location make natural reproduction difficult.
