Havemeyer Hall, University chemistry building in Morningside Heights, Manhattan, US

Havemeyer Hall is a three-story structure on Columbia University's campus featuring Victorian architecture with a prominent clock tower. The building occupies a central position on the grounds and serves as a focal point of the academic area.

The structure was built between 1896 and 1898 and named after Frederick Christian Havemeyer, a major university supporter. Since its completion, it has served as the institution's primary facility for chemistry research and teaching.

Seven Nobel Prize winners in Chemistry conducted research within Havemeyer Hall, including Irving Langmuir and Harold Clayton Urey.

The building houses laboratory spaces and lecture halls used for classes throughout the academic year. Visitors should keep in mind it functions as an active campus where teaching takes priority.

Several Hollywood films shot scenes here, including Spider-Man and Ghostbusters, giving the building an unexpected film career. The spaces have thus also shaped cinema of the 20th century.
