The center opened in 2011 and underwent major renovation and renaming in 2019 following community input. This transformation updated the space while maintaining its focus on regional arts and crafts.
The center displays work from regional artisans who create with clay, textiles, glass, jewelry, and metal using traditional methods. These artists represent the craftsmanship that defines the character of Southwest Virginia.
The center is open Monday through Saturday from 11 AM to 7 PM and Sundays from 11 AM to 3 PM. An on-site cafe serves regional food and drinks.
The building incorporates architectural features from old farm structures, giving it a rural character. A custom wooden map made from historic timber guides visitors through the exhibition spaces.
