The Southwest Virginia Cultural Center occupies 29,000 square feet of space with galleries, retail areas, and performance venues displaying regional crafts and music.
The center opened in 2011 as Heartwood before transforming into the Southwest Virginia Cultural Center in 2019 following extensive renovations and community input.
The facility exhibits works from more than 300 juried artisans who create pieces in clay, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, wood, and other traditional materials.
Visitors can explore the center Monday through Saturday from 11 AM to 7 PM and Sundays from 11 AM to 3 PM, with a café serving regional foods.
The building incorporates architectural elements from agricultural structures while featuring a custom-designed map made from historic wood to guide regional exploration.
