Jacobus Vanderveer House
Jacobus Vanderveer House, Dutch colonial house in Bedminster, US
The Jacobus Vanderveer House stands at the junction of US 202 and 206 north of River Road, featuring Federal style architecture with a nineteenth-century addition.
The residence served as General Henry Knox's military headquarters during the Continental Army's winter encampment of 1778-1779 near the Pluckemin Artillery Cantonment.
The museum preserves Dutch-American architectural heritage and maintains exhibits about the Continental Army's first military training academy in the United States.
Located at 3055 River Road, the museum requires advance appointments for tours and accepts group visits through email coordination at info@jvanderveerhouse.org.
The structure remains the sole surviving building connected to the Pluckemin Artillery Cantonment, which preceded the establishment of West Point Military Academy.
