Krueger Mansion, Victorian mansion in Newark, United States.
Krueger Mansion rises as a three-story Victorian home along Martin Luther King Boulevard, with a tall circular tower that climbs five stories above the ground. The building displays an asymmetrical front elevation, a wraparound porch, and a sharply angled roof that give it a recognizable profile in the neighborhood.
Gottfried Krueger, a German immigrant who founded the Gottfried Krueger Brewing Company in Newark, built the residence in 1888. The Valley of Newark Scottish Rite Freemasons purchased the property in 1926 and added a large auditorium for their gatherings.
The Valley of Newark Scottish Rite Freemasons added a 700-seat auditorium after purchasing the mansion in 1926 for their organizational meetings.
Following a major renovation in 2020, the building now houses combined living and working areas for local artisans. Those interested can apply for a space, with communal areas available for creative activities throughout the property.
The interior retains original elements from the 1880s construction, including patterned hardwood floors and wood molding along the walls. Windows with pediments reflecting Italian design influence add a touch that is not common in typical Victorian homes.
