Moreau Lake State Park, Recreation area in Saratoga County, United States
Moreau Lake State Park is a New York state park in the Adirondack foothills, centered around a lake with sandy beaches and surrounded by forested ridges. Several camping areas, picnic spots, and trails spread across the grounds, making it usable in every season.
The lake was formed at the end of the last ice age, when glaciers carved hollows into the rock and left behind the basin that exists today. The surrounding ridges and rocky outcrops are also shaped by that same glacial activity.
The park's Nature Center runs programs year-round where visitors can learn about local wildlife and forest ecology. These sessions take place mostly outdoors and welcome both children and adults.
In summer the lake beaches are open for swimming, while in winter the trails are used for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Camping is available on site, with facilities that vary depending on the season.
The Big Bend Preserve section, along the Hudson River, is part of the park and shelters over 100 bird species, yet most visitors never reach it. It also has dedicated horse trails that run along the riverbank, separate from the main hiking paths.
