New Presque Isle Light, Lighthouse in Presque Isle County, United States.
The New Presque Isle Light is a lighthouse in Presque Isle County featuring a white brick tower standing 33 meters tall. A covered walkway connects the tower to the keeper's residence, both located near the water's edge.
This lighthouse was built in 1870 following designs by architect Orlando Poe to replace an earlier structure. The new tower provided better navigation guidance for vessels traveling across Lake Erie.
The Keeper's House Museum displays maritime objects and tells the story of those who lived here tending the light. Visitors can see how the keepers spent their days maintaining this navigation point on the Great Lakes.
The grounds are open year-round for visitors to explore the outdoor areas and surrounding landscape. Tower climbs and museum tours operate seasonally during the warmer months when weather permits.
The tower features double-walled construction with a circular design that narrows toward the top as you ascend. This tapering shape was engineered to provide both strength and visual prominence on the horizon.
