During the Battle of Monmouth in 1778, the church transformed into a field hospital for soldiers who fought against British forces.
The church cemetery contains graves of notable figures including Joshua Huddy and Nathaniel Scudder, who signed the Articles of Confederation.
Located at 450 Tennent Road, the church maintains its original interior elements including wooden pews and pulpit for current services.
A 1920 stone monument on the grounds lists names of Monmouth County soldiers and sailors who died during World War I.
