Robertson Scholars Program, Merit scholarship program at Duke University and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, United States
The Robertson Scholars Program is a merit scholarship connecting students between Duke University and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Scholars benefit from a four-year undergraduate education with access to resources, courses, and networks at both institutions.
The program was founded in 2000 by Julian Robertson, a successful investor, through a major financial gift. This establishment marked the beginning of a long-term partnership between the two prominent universities.
Participants engage in joint projects and events that connect both universities and foster exchange between students across campuses. This collaboration builds a network of leaders who think beyond the boundaries of a single institution.
The program covers tuition, room, board, and all mandatory fees for the entire undergraduate duration. Additionally, scholars receive funding for specialized summer experiences designed to develop their skills outside the classroom.
During their second year, scholars spend an entire semester at the partner campus and live there alongside other program participants. This immersion experience at the alternate institution is central to building lasting connections between the two student communities.
