Saint Paul's Episcopal Cathedral, listed on the NRHP in New York

Saint Paul's is an Episcopal cathedral featuring a 225-foot limestone spire and Gothic Revival design with stained glass windows positioned along the south side. The structure displays characteristic pointed arches and decorative stonework typical of this architectural style.

The congregation began holding services in a tavern in 1826 and constructed its first building in 1827 during Syracuse's Erie Canal development period. This timing connected the place to the city's early growth as a transportation hub.

The cathedral serves as a worship space for South Sudanese refugees and hosts regular community meals for downtown residents. It functions as a gathering place that brings together people from different backgrounds.

The cathedral is located at 310 Montgomery Street in downtown Syracuse and welcomes visitors for worship services and community events. Plan your visit around the building's regular activity schedule to see it at its most active.

Twelve thousand square feet of the building are being converted into eleven mixed-income rental apartments. This project represents a modern adaptive use that blends religious and residential functions within the same structure.
