Spindletop Hall, Historical mansion in Lexington, Kentucky, United States
Spindletop Hall is a 40-room mansion in Lexington featuring a blend of architectural styles throughout its spaces. Inside you find a grand library, formal dining areas, bedrooms decorated in different historical styles, and a pipe organ installed in the home.
Construction took place between 1935 and 1937 during the Great Depression when Pansy Yount funded the project with a significant investment. The mansion was created as a private residence during a period of economic hardship.
The mansion features a collection of over 7,000 books in its library, two Stradivarius violins, and a pipe organ with controls in multiple areas.
Today the property serves as an event venue with multiple spaces available for gatherings and celebrations. Access is typically arranged through events or scheduled tours rather than casual drop-in visits.
The building featured individual thermostatic control in every room, an unusually advanced feature for the 1930s. A specialized dance floor in the basement was engineered with flexible design to reduce strain on dancers.
