Kincaid Towers, Office skyscraper in Lexington, Kentucky, US.
Kincaid Towers is an office skyscraper in Lexington, Kentucky, standing 22 stories tall with a polished buff concrete exterior and blue-tinted glass. The facade features several terrace levels set at different heights, giving the building a layered, stepped look when viewed from the street.
Construction started in 1973 and the building opened in 1979. For the next eight years it held the title of the tallest structure in central Kentucky.
The tower served as a filming location for the movie Steel in 1978, while the construction site was still active. This makes the building an unexpected part of American cinema history.
A covered skywalk connects the tower directly to the adjacent Hyatt Regency Hotel and the Lexington Center. This means you can move between all three buildings without stepping outside, which is a real advantage when the weather is poor.
The ninth floor houses an energy management system built on technology originally developed for aerospace research. It is a rare example of how space program innovations were adapted for everyday use inside an urban office building.
