Fayette National Bank Building, Historic skyscraper from 1914 in downtown Lexington, United States.

The Fayette National Bank Building is a 15-story skyscraper with a brick shaft and decorative arched windows located on West Main Street downtown. The structure features a three-story base and has defined the streetscape for more than a century with its distinctive proportions.

The renowned architectural firm McKim, Mead & White designed this building in 1913, making it Lexington's first skyscraper. The project marked a turning point in the city's development and was constructed using modern methods of that era.

The building's classical details like Ionic columns, marble surfaces, and ornamental plasterwork still shape how visitors experience the interior spaces today. These elements connect the structure to early 20th-century craftsmanship traditions that remain visible throughout.

The building now operates as the 21c Museum Hotel, featuring 88 rooms, a restaurant, and exhibition spaces following extensive renovation work completed in 2016. Visitors can experience the historic architecture through lodging or explore the galleries and artistic offerings throughout the property.

Rising 200 feet tall, the building held its place as Lexington's highest structure for almost 60 years before being surpassed in 1972. This long reign made it a defining landmark during most of the 20th century.
