The Fayette National Bank Building rises fifteen stories with a three-story base, brick shaft structure, and decorative arched windows at 167 West Main Street.
McKim, Mead & White architectural firm designed this structure in 1913, making it the first skyscraper in Lexington with a construction cost of $400,000.
The building demonstrates the Beaux-Arts architectural style through its classical elements, including Ionic columns, marble walls, and ornamental plaster ceiling patterns.
The structure now functions as the 21c Museum Hotel, offering 88 rooms, a restaurant, and exhibition spaces following a $43 million renovation in 2016.
The 200-foot tall building maintained its position as Lexington's highest structure for almost 60 years until the First Security Plaza construction in 1972.
