Main Building

The Main Building is a four-story brick and stone structure housing administrative offices, conference rooms, classrooms, and a visitor center. Two balconies overlook Patterson Plaza, creating a focal point for the central campus area.

The structure was built in 1882 as part of the original college campus, and it is the only surviving building from that founding era. A fire in 2001 led to complete reconstruction while preserving its historical exterior appearance.

This building serves as the symbolic center of the university, representing the institution's continuity and identity since the 19th century. Walking through it, you can sense how it remains central to university life and decision-making.

The building is centrally located on campus and easily accessible, with the visitor center on the ground level offering campus information. Weekday business hours are the best time to visit, as the administrative offices are active and the building feels most like the working heart of the university.

Although the building was nearly destroyed by fire in 2001, architects reconstructed the original facade so accurately that many visitors cannot tell they are looking at a rebuilt structure. The interior received modern systems and comfort while the exterior retained its Victorian character.
