Patterson Office Tower, Academic high-rise at University of Kentucky, Lexington, US.
Patterson Office Tower is a 250-foot (76 m) office building on the University of Kentucky campus with 18 floors. It houses faculty offices and conference rooms for multiple academic departments across the university.
The building was completed in 1969 and replaced the former White Hall dormitory on the site. It was named after James Kennedy Patterson, the university's first president.
The building's 18th floor regularly hosts academic lectures, philosophical discussions, and serves as a gathering space for intellectual discourse.
The building contains six elevators providing access to various office areas and conference rooms. A basement connection links to student resources, including the Big Blue Pantry for student support.
In a memorable student tradition, 1,000 ping-pong balls were dropped from the building's roof to celebrate the end of a semester. About 100 students gathered below to collect the balls as part of this unique campus event.
